My Journey to WorldSkills Lyon 2024
May 15, 2024

Three years ago, I had no idea how much WorldSkills would change my life. I first heard about the competition through my involvement in robotics at school, and from that moment, I knew I wanted to be part of it. The idea of representing my country and competing against the world’s best young professionals was incredibly motivating.
The journey to WorldSkills International wasn’t easy. I had to earn my place by advancing through several tough stages—local, regional, and national competitions in Mexico. Each level brought new challenges that pushed me to grow, not just technically, but also mentally. Competing in Mobile Robotics meant mastering everything from mechanical design and electronics to coding and strategy—all under strict time constraints.
The national final was one of the most intense experiences of my life. My teammate and I had to design, build, and program a fully autonomous robot to complete a complex set of tasks within a limited timeframe. Every second mattered. When we were announced as national champions and chosen to represent Mexico at WorldSkills Lyon 2024, it felt surreal. All the late nights, the trial and error, and the months of hard work had finally paid off.
Now, with the international competition just around the corner, I’m training harder than ever. Every day involves hours of focused preparation—testing robot designs, refining code, and simulating match scenarios. I’m also learning from expert mentors and engineers who are helping me take my skills to the next level.
WorldSkills is more than a competition—it's a movement that inspires excellence and connects young professionals around the globe. It’s an honor to represent Mexico on the world stage, and I’m doing everything I can to be ready.
In the months ahead, I’ll be sharing more about my training, the tools and technologies I’m using, and the lessons I’m learning along the way. Stay tuned—my WorldSkills journey is just getting started!
